My name is Susan Trask, and I'm a forty-something wife and work-at-home mother/step-mother (of five), residing in a semi-rural area of central Maine.
Having accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior, I know the Master Creator on a personal level, and realize, it is from Him, I have received a lifelong, innate, insatiable need to "make stuff" -- a need as real as those to eat, or to breathe.
Over the years, this necessity for creative expression, had fulfilled itself in a variety of ways - arts & crafts (all kinds), cooking, sewing, writing, teaching, drama, etc. Basically, if it made the creative juices flow, I was satisfied.
Early in 1999, however, during an unexpected creative drought, I discovered the world of artistic rubber stamping... This was not mere satisfaction! Oh, no! This was sheer, unadulterated bliss!!! All other creative endeavors paled in comparison... I jumped in with both feet, and have never looked back!
Unknown to me at the time, this initial discovery of "da rubbah universe," would soon prove itself to be only the beginning of a truly exciting journey...
In the immediate years to follow, I entered a national, rubber stamping, card contest (and won), taught rubber stamping classes at a couple of local stamp shops, submitted work to rubber stamping publications (and was published - RubberStampMadness, VSN, Take Ten, Scrap & Stamp Arts, Stamper's Sampler...), and designed a line of shrink art dolls and templates.
Eventually, my obsession with "all things rubber," took on a life of its own called smARTworks -- an unmounted only, rubber stamp company, and present home of Prairie Stamper's The Clear Thing -- handcrafted, 3/4" acrylic mounting blocks.
Now, smARTworks is my baby...my dream... my vehicle by which I can, not only create, and have something always "in the works," but can also pay the joy of stamping forward, and use my God-given talents and creative tendencies to be a blessing to others.
As it says in Ephesians 2:10 --"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
